Weather varies year to year and central Vietnam can flood in the wet season. Treat this as general guidance and check a forecast (and flood warnings) close to your dates.
Dry & pleasant (best) Feb, Mar, Apr, May
Warm and mostly dry, roughly 24–33°C — the prime window.
Ideal for everything — beaches, day trips and Hội An evenings.
Look out for: Calm seas for the beaches, Clear Golden Bridge views
Hot & humid Jun, Jul, Aug
Hot, often 30–38°C, humid; the sea is warm.
Swim and sightsee early; use the Cham Museum, malls and cafés at midday; Hội An by evening.
Look out for: Best beach swimming, Lively night markets
Wet season Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan
Warmer-to-mild (20–30°C) with heavy rain, especially Oct–Nov.
Keep indoor backups (Cham Museum, cooking class, tailoring, cafés); check flood/typhoon warnings and keep day-trip plans flexible.
Look out for: Atmospheric misty Hội An, Fewer crowds

- Transport: Grab cars + a private day-trip car.
- Attractions: Add Ba Na Hills (Golden Bridge), a My Son tour, a river cruise.
- Evening: Seafood dinner, the Dragon Bridge show, a rooftop drink.
Comfortable
- Accommodation: 5-star beach resort or pool villa (VND 4,000,000–12,000,000).
- Meals: Good restaurants plus a standout seafood or resort dinner (VND 300,000–2,000,000/meal).
- Transport: Private car/driver for day trips; resort shuttles.
- Attractions: Add a private My Son sunrise tour, a spa, a sunset boat.
- Evening: A fine seafood dinner, then the riverside or a resort bar.
Where to stay in Da Nang & Hội An
Da Nang's My Khe beach strip is the easy resort base near the airport; the Han River side puts you among riverside dining and the Dragon Bridge. Hội An (~45 min) rewards staying in or near the Ancient Town for the lantern-lit evenings, or at quiet An Bang Beach. Many travellers split nights between the two.

- Splitting nights (a couple in Da Nang, a couple in Hội An) saves a lot of back-and-forth.
- A pool matters in the heat; beachfront resorts are excellent value here.
- For Hội An's lanterns, stay close enough to walk back to the Ancient Town at night.
Rates and availability change constantly — confirm with the hotel or a booking site before paying.
Common Da Nang & Hội An mistakes to avoid
- Doing the Golden Bridge (Ba Na Hills) at midday in peak crowds — go early.
- Only seeing Hội An in the day — its magic is the lantern-lit evening.
- Underestimating the rainy season (Oct–Dec), when central Vietnam can flood.
- Tailoring a suit on the last day — leave time for fittings and alterations.
- Skipping Da Nang's beaches and Marble Mountains in a rush to Hội An.
